What's all the Skype?

I have always been a fan of the telephone. Friends and family tease me about spending so much time having juicy conversations over the phone. And I'm kind of a purist about it too, much preferring the landline to my cell. So when my college friend introduced me to the concept of Skype, I said, "No thanks." She insisted I try it once. So I did. 

You've heard me bad-mouth technology, but I keep having to eat my words. Turns out, Skype is a really fun way to bridge the miles. It's a cross between a phone call and a date. And it's free, super easy to install, and easy to use. Just go to skype.com and follow the prompts to select a user name. My mom is getting ready to Skype with my nieces and nephews in Texas and I'm going to help my friend in Berkeley clean out her closet. If your computer doesn't have a built-in camera, you can get them cheap. Try it out! It's one cool way technology isn't isolating us from each other.
