Newbery judge in the neighborhood

Each January, the Newbery Medal is awarded by the American Library Association to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. This year, we've got a Newbery judge in our own backyard. Karin Snelson is a member of the 2011 Newbery Award Committee and in this Verity Mom video she gives us a glimpse of what it's like to be a part of this notable group.

And for a compilation of lists of the best of the best in children's books here's a link to past Newbery Medal winners and other notable books.
