A bit about me:
I am the mother of a terrific 8 year old daughter and the wife of a lovely man. We have lived in the same cozy house in North Seattle for 12 years. Aside from my house roles as head chef, nutritionist, toilet cleaner, spot remover, schedule manager, and gardener, I am a creative environmental educator, compassionate life coach, and an outgoing yoga instructor. As a better life advocate, I am passionate about bringing out the best human qualities in people and I am dedicated to supporting responsible businesses such as Verity Credit Union. The topic that I enjoy facilitating the most is called Raising Environmentally Conscious Kids, which allows me the privilege of interacting with a diverse range of moms. When I am not out having a blast with my family or clients, you can find me in nature with the Backcountry Betties and Babies, volunteering at my kid’s school, relaxing at Olympus Spa, or watching Dancing with the Stars.
My blog post:
Parental Second-Guessing: Can you relate?
After much thoughtful discussion my husband and I decided to move our daughter, Lily, to our local school which reopened this fall. The switch has gone well, yet from time-to-time, I find that I am second-guessing my decision.
Her new school is great with only 19 students in her class, close proximity to home, and Carkeek Park bordering the play field. I am grateful for all these things yet I am still second-guessing myself. I even shed a few tears the first week and find that I am pining for some of the attributes of a mature school such as having a strong parent community and weekly assemblies. Heck we don’t even have a rainy day recess policy yet.
Perhaps what I am experiencing is just the very nature of a transition? Perhaps it is the essence of being a mom? Somehow it is strangely reassuring to know that there are moms all over Seattle making parental decisions. I offer this post because we need to stick together, draw from each other’s strengths, and offer support in times of challenge.
