A bit about me:

I am a: mother of 2, wife to 1, lover of creativity and health, producer, writer, actor, health advocate, baker, cook, and coffee snob. I love interacting with other women and empowering them to live a healthy lifestyle so they can pass on a legacy of health to their kids. I also enjoy helping them learn how to live their dreams by avoiding some costly mistakes I have made. Basically, I'm a teacher and cheerleader - to my family and to other moms in my life.

You ever feel a little too saggy and baggy in your clothes? Well, my sister just sent me a blog post that will change your mind on that. And I, for one, think it's wonderful!

Mainly because for YEARS I have encouraged people not to give into the idea we should look like we are 14 when we are actually well past that age. Embrace your hips and your backside. Tone it and work it! (Within appropriate reason). Basically, looking like a fully developed woman is good. You can be incredibly attractive, even as a mama.

So, why do so many of us spend so much time wishing to look like pubescent youth we see in Women's magazines? Or compare ourselves to celebrities who have time to manicure themselves like no other race of people on the planet?

Perhaps the perceived idea of perfection is what we are staring at when we look at the cover of People magazine and see Princess Kate beaming. Or flip the pages of Vogue and see the teens dressed like women in pseudo-Renaissance attire, and we want to look like that. Don't be fooled by their seemingly flawless appearance, even if they are caught in a "candid" moment. Even at their most casual, they are trained how to walk, how to pose and (as the article I read explains) how to get their clothes to highlight their best assets by tailoring them to the hilt.

So, as you set healthy goals for your body remember, it's not how your clothes fit that should be the deciding factor of your success. Or how you think you compare to the perfect model or celebrity - it's you. How you feel - your emotions, your stress, your energy level. Health is about your body working at it's best. Even if you are in an old t-shirt from Target. Work it, lady! And don't worry if they bag a bit here and there. You are an evolving beauty, not a fading one. Besides, you have better things to do than alter all your clothes, anyway. Like save for your kids' college education!
