A bit about me:
Hey there Seattle! I'm Megan Thomas and I'd love to be your next Verity Mom. I'm a wife, the mother of two kiddos (Aiden, age 5 and Ireland, age 3), a local mommy blogger, and a lover of coffee and red velvet cupcakes (yum!)
Professionally I've worked in social media marketing and community relations over the past few years, as well as being a 'mommy blogger' since having my first child in 2006.
I love writing my local mommy blog, 425mom.com, where I dish about my personal adventures in motherhood along with features on our fabulous community!
Connecting with other moms, both online and off, is something I absolutely love. I'd be thrilled to keep doing this as a spokesmom for Verity and I'm very grateful for the opportunity. Thanks Verity!
My blog post:
Stop and Smell the Carnations When I graduated from high school, I couldn’t get out of this one-horse town fast enough. The world was calling me and I wasn’t going to miss that call! Sure, I didn’t make it too far away heading up to Bellingham for college, but a study abroad in Australia and a couple of months in London helped appease my need to see the world. After college I moved to Seattle, as did most of my friends, and while I was having a blast living in Frellard (that’s how we affectionately referred to our digs in between Fremont and Ballard), I wanted more! So I packed up my little old Subaru with all my worldly possessions and headed south, finally arriving in the heart of Hollywood, CA where my real adventure would begin.
It’s while I was living just off Sunset Blvd. when my life changed in a million ways. I met my husband (who also happened to be from WA) and found out I was growing a little human. Amazing! Exciting! Scary! I’m pretty sure this is when life really began for me.
We lived in California for the next couple of years, soaking up the sun and enjoying everything that comes with growing and having a baby. It was a magical and romantic time, but also hard. Very, very hard. Becoming a mother changed so many things about me (my waistline, for one!) It gave me a different perspective on life and what truly was important. And while the California sun is hard to beat, I longed to be close to family and I desperately missed the sense of community that I took for granted growing up. So after a little persuading to the hubby, we were packing our Subaru back up and heading home!
Since moving back to Carnation in the summer of 2007, I’ve come to appreciate what an amazing gift it is to live here. I can’t think of a better place to raise a family than in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
We try to take full advantage of everything the Seattle area has to offer. We’re a busy family that always seems to be on the go. Whether we’re going for a family hike or bike ride, exploring the Zoo or the Aquarium, catching a local band, or just bumming around our small little town, we love the quality of life and the awesome community we’re lucky to have.
There’s so much I can thank my kiddos for, but without a doubt, I thank motherhood for changing my perspective, making me see what really matters most, and teaching me to stop and smell the …Carnations!
Megan
